On July 11, Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation posted a News Release announcing the re-opening of Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. Read the Press Release here.

Meanwhile, as Parks Canada crews and provincial parks staff struggle to re-open trails in Banff and Bow Valley Provincial Park, they are finding that many trails will be “forever altered by the flooding, which caused creeks to take different paths and washed out entire sections. At Heart Creek a trail near Lac Des Arcs less than 25 per cent of the original trail was salvageable.” In all cases, parks staff have been aided tremendously by dozens of volunteers who have come out to help re-build trails.
