On 23 May of this year, the AHA posted the federal government’s announcement of $150 million for infrastructure renewal, including trail improvements to help celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017. The West Bragg Creek trails seem like a good fit for the federal grant, so the Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association is applying for a Canada 150 grant of $75,000 to upgrade most of the remaining XC trail network. The upgrade would include improved drainage, treading and routing on about 35 km of the original West Bragg Creek XC ski trails, allowing them to be used for hiking in the summer and improved ski trails in the winter.
However, the Association will only receive as much money from the grant as it can raise. You can donate much needed dollars by contacting the Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association at info@braggcreektrails.org or contacting Alf Skrastins at askrasti@gmail.com.
