The Department of Environment and Sustainable Resource Development has committed $10 million over three years to repair backcountry trails and trail infrastructure such as bridges that were damaged in the June 2013 floods. There are both motorized and non-motorized trails in the Public Land Use Zones (PLUZ) and both types of trails will be repaired. Read the press release at:

Hiking in the Crowsnest, or in Kananaskis this season? ESRD encourages all users of public lands to report damage through the on-line form found in the link above. The damage has been extensive, so if you wish to enjoy the trails again, consider volunteering with a trail crew through the Friends of Kananaskis Country, the West Bragg Creek Trail Association, the Calgary Mountain Bike Alliance, or the Moose Mountain Bike Trail Society.
