Parks Canada commissioned Ipsos Reid to create and host a panel of visitors to Canada’s mountain parks, which Parks Canada can access to conduct up to one 10-minute survey on a topic of Parks Canada’s choosing. The seventh of these surveys for the 2009/10 year is the Mountain Park Trails survey. In looking at data on visitation to Jasper National Park, the survey revealed the popularity of hiking among park visitors, some 98 percent chose to hike or walk a trail, as opposed to jog, cycle or horseback ride.
